In some days I will install my eee-server too, I think I will give Arch Linux a chance because it only installs what you need, but it's a bit more difficult than Ubuntu I think.

I used Ubuntu 8.04 server edition, which was the most up to date at the time I bought the server. Honestly, apart from the size of the internal disk there have been no real problems. With only the OS installed on the main drive and all the rest on a USB disk that's auto mounted at boot everything seems to run very smoothly.

Hi, bought an eee pc for server purposes. Could you inform me of the software you are using. To be more specific - I want to know which linux you have installed and the problems you have faced. Sounds like I made a good choice for a server though. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yup - the server is still ticking along without a hitch. The eeepc itself has never had any problems. Since the storage is so small we decided to use external USB drives for larger data storage and they've failed over time, but the eeepc? Magnificent.

It`s far from weird , ive done it , i have a eeepc 2g surf (lowest model) with an WD usb self powered harddrive running debian. It run only with 22watt of power , i can let it on 24/24 365 , it have a batterie and will hardisk is usb powered , it is powerfailure proof. The computer power is exceptionnal , i get below 1% load all the time , and hardly reach 10% cpu usage. It run apache mysql php nfs ftp cups phpmp torrentflux webmin and more to come.
